Most likely causes (in order of likelihood)

  1. DM and DMR series (older absorption models): Pull the 12V fuse on the back of the fridge for 60 seconds, then restore power.
  2. RMD and RML series (mid-generation): Hold the on/off button for 5 or more seconds until the display turns off. Wait 30 seconds, then power back on.
  3. 10-series (newest absorption): Hold the power button until 'OFF' displays. Wait 30 seconds. Hold again to restart.
  4. Models with a check light: Press the check light button 3 times in quick succession to clear stored fault codes.

Diagnostic steps (in order, free/cheap before expensive)

  1. Just switched between propane and electric and the fridge won't ignite or won't heat.
  2. Check light is flashing or staying on.
  3. Display is frozen, blank, or unresponsive to buttons.
  4. After a campground power surge or voltage drop.
  5. After driving — vibration can occasionally trip the gas safety lockout.

DIY vs. call a tech

If reset doesn't work: You have a deeper fault. The three most common post-reset failures are (1) a failed thermistor, (2) an ARP module fault on protected units, or (3) eyebrow board failure. None require dealer-only tools — but they do require part replacement, not just a reset.
